Coach Ethan Lam

Director & Founder, Head Coach

Coach Ethan Lam, an alumni of Killarney Secondary, demonstrated his prowess on the court during his full five-year tenure and played a pivotal role in securing the 2020 AAAA Vancouver City Championship, a historic achievement for Killarney as the first since 1985. Transitioning from player to coach, Ethan has been an integral part of Killarney Secondary’s basketball program as he has been head coaching boys teams since 2021. His unwavering commitment and dynamic coaching style have garnered recognition, evident in his recent coaching successes with his latest group, winning multiple high school tournaments and the 2024 Juvenile Boys Vancouver City Championship, a historic moment for Killarney being the first Juvenile Boys City Title since 2012. Specializing in offensive team concepts, Ethan employs strategic strategies to unlock the full potential of his players and teams. Ethan has had the honour to been apart of Basketball BC’s Prestigious Junior Academy, where his role as an assistant coach has helped lead the province’s top talent in high level skills workouts.

Drawing on a wealth of experience as a NCCP Certified Coach, Ethan has coached players ranging from 5 to 17 years old across diverse settings, including community centre programs, high school teams, club basketball teams, and private training sessions. His coaching journey spans a spectrum of environments, demonstrating his adaptability and dedication to fostering player development at every stage.

Coach Heindrick Teves

Head Coach

Coach Heindrick Teves has been an integral part of the Killarney girls basketball program since 2021, showcasing exceptional proficiency in nurturing players at the grassroots level. His coaching expertise develops fundamental skills to young players, laying the groundwork for their growth and success on the basketball court.

Within the Killarney girls basketball program, Heindrick has not only demonstrated a keen understanding of the game but has also excelled in fostering a supportive and developmental environment, evident in his 2026 playoff run as he helped lead the Killarney Senior Girls to their first ever Tier 1 Vancouver City Championship, and first ever Vancouver Sea to Sky Appearance in program history. Through his dedication and focus on core aspects, he has proven instrumental in cultivating a strong foundation for the young athletes under his guidance, ensuring they not only grasp the intricacies of the sport but also flourish as well-rounded players.

Coach Swee Chai

Assistant Coach

Coach Swee Chai's journey in basketball began at Vancouver Technical Secondary School, where he served as the Captain and starting point guard for five remarkable years. His talent was evident early on, earning him the prestigious title of Most Valuable Player in 8th grade, a feat that marked the pinnacle of achievement across all grades in the sports program. His skills were further recognized when he represented Vancouver at the esteemed BC Summer Games, a significant honor for any young athlete.

Transitioning from player to coach, Swee found his calling in mentoring and guiding the next generation of basketball enthusiasts. He dedicated his time to coaching at the Night Hoops Basketball program at Britannia Community Centre, where he not only honed his coaching abilities but also served as a mentor to at-risk youth, imparting invaluable life lessons through the game. Coach Swee has spent the last five years coaching at Van Tech Secondary and giving back to the community that shaped him.

Coach Swee's passion and expertise lies in grassroots player development, where he thrives on nurturing talent and instilling a love for the game in young athletes. His dedication to fostering growth both on and off the court serves as an inspiration to all who have the privilege of working with him.

Coach Anson Bao

Head Coach

Coach Anson Bao built his basketball foundation at Burnaby North Secondary, where he played five years and developed a deep understanding of the game. Known for his high energy and competitive spirit, Anson brought passion and intensity every time he stepped on the court.

Transitioning into coaching, Anson quickly made an impact with his enthusiastic and player-focused approach. In 2024, he served as the Bantam Boys Head Coach at Burnaby North, where he emphasized skill development, discipline, and a strong defensive-first mentality. His ability to instill accountability and toughness on the defensive end became a key part of his teams’ identity. His strong leadership and connection with players earned him a promotion in 2025 to Senior Boys Head Coach.

Coach Anson is recognized for his energetic and passionate coaching style, while always keeping long-term player development at the forefront. He is committed to helping athletes grow over time—building strong fundamentals, confidence, and game IQ—while pushing them to compete at a high level. His dedication to development and team culture makes him a valuable mentor both on and off the court.

Coach Damien Jansen

Coach Justin Chow

Head Coach

Coach Justin Chow is an alumni of Vancouver Technical Secondary School. During his time as a student-athlete, he was known for his dedication, commitment, and enthusiasm for the game. Although his senior playing season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Justin remained involved in the program by transitioning into coaching.

Since transitioning into coaching, Justin has played an integral role in developing basketball at Vancouver Technical. His coaching philosophy emphasizes strong team culture, strategic play, development, and a defence-first approach. He helped guide the program to back-to-back Vancouver City Championships with the Juvenile Boys team in 2022–2023 and the Junior Boys team in 2023–2024, along with two Provincial Championship appearances. In the 2024–2025 season, Justin led a new group to another Vancouver City Championship and a Provincial Championship appearance, finishing 6th in the province. This marked his 3rd Vancouver City Championship and 3rd Provincial appearance as a coach. Beyond the high school level, Justin has also coached younger athletes aged 9–11 in club basketball programs, allowing him to work with players at multiple stages of development and competitive play.

With his background in Kinesiology at the University of British Columbia and certifications such as National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) coach and Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport, he has the knowledge and experience to support athlete development both on and off the court.
